Terms and Conditions for Removals Westhampstead

Removal team loading household items for a moveThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Removals Westhampstead provides domestic and commercial moving services, including packing, loading, transport, unloading, and related handling services. By confirming a booking, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms, together with any written quotation, service specification, inventory, and any special conditions agreed in advance. These terms are intended to create clarity around responsibilities, pricing, scheduling, liability, and compliance so that the moving process is orderly, fair, and legally compliant.

For the purposes of these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the removals provider, and “you” or “the customer” refers to the person or business purchasing the service. The contract applies to all standard removals work, including small removals, flat moves, house moves, office relocations, furniture transport, and related support services. Any variation must be confirmed in writing to have effect. These terms should be read carefully before booking, as they determine the rights and obligations of both parties.

Packed moving boxes and furniture ready for transport1. Booking process A booking is only confirmed once we have accepted the job, issued a quotation or booking confirmation, and received any required deposit or pre-authorisation. Quotes are usually based on the information provided by the customer, including access conditions, estimated volume, labour required, parking arrangements, and any special handling needs. If the details later change, the price, timing, or service scope may also change. Customers must ensure all information provided during the booking process is accurate, complete, and up to date.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking where the work is unsafe, unlawful, excessively beyond scope, or impossible to carry out on the agreed basis. A booking date and time are allocated subject to availability and may be affected by traffic, weather, access restrictions, or events outside our control. If a survey is carried out, whether in person or remotely, the final quotation may depend on the accuracy of the information disclosed. Failure to disclose relevant details may result in additional charges or changes to the service plan.

2. Payments and charges Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment terms will be stated on the quotation or invoice. In many cases, a deposit may be required to secure the date, with the balance due before unloading, upon completion, or within the period stated on the invoice. Accepted payment methods may vary, and any bank charges, transfer fees, or failed payment costs may be passed to the customer where permitted by law. All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and may be subject to VAT where applicable.

Where the job is carried out on a time basis, the customer agrees that additional waiting time, parking delays, key delays, or changes requested during the move may lead to extra charges. If the customer requests work outside the original quote, such as extra items, dismantling, reassembly, or disposal, these services may be charged separately. A written estimate is not a fixed price unless expressly stated as such. We may issue an updated invoice if the final service differs materially from what was originally agreed.

Professional movers handling goods during a relocation3. Cancellations and postponements If the customer wishes to cancel or reschedule, notice should be given as early as possible. Cancellation charges may apply depending on how much notice is provided and whether resources, vehicles, or staff have already been allocated. Deposits may be non-refundable in whole or in part where the booking has been reserved exclusively, where preparatory work has been completed, or where cancellation occurs too close to the scheduled date. The exact cancellation terms will be confirmed at the time of booking or in the quotation.

If we need to cancel or postpone a booking due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will aim to offer an alternative date or refund any sums paid for undelivered services, subject to any non-recoverable costs already incurred lawfully. We are not liable for losses arising from delays caused by weather, road closures, accidents, strikes, vehicle breakdown, or other events outside our reasonable control. Any postponement requested by the customer is subject to availability and may require a revised quotation or date confirmation.

4. Customer responsibilities The customer must ensure that goods are ready for collection at the agreed time, appropriately packed unless packing has been contracted, and clearly identified where necessary. Fragile items, valuable items, and hazardous goods must be disclosed in advance. The customer is responsible for securing parking permission, building access, lift bookings, and any permits required for the move unless we have expressly agreed to arrange them. Items that are prohibited by law, unsafe, or unsuitable for transport must not be included in the load.

The customer must provide a safe working environment, including reasonable access to the property and accurate information about stairs, narrow entrances, weight restrictions, and any security requirements. If access is delayed or obstructed, we may charge for waiting time or abort the move where performance would be unsafe. If keys are not available at the agreed time, or if the customer is not present where their presence is required, the job may be delayed and additional charges may apply. The customer should keep evidence of high-value goods where appropriate.

However, our liability is limited to losses directly caused by our proven negligence, breach of contract, or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. We do not accept liability for loss or damage resulting from inadequate packing by the customer, pre-existing defects, inherent weakness of goods, normal wear and tear, or items not declared as fragile or valuable. Customers should ensure that all fragile or valuable items are properly protected and declared before collection.

Where we pack items ourselves, our liability is limited to the extent that damage is caused by our packing error, subject to any exclusions in these terms and any applicable insurance policy. We do not accept liability for consequential or indirect losses, including loss of profit, missed appointments, business interruption, emotional distress, or loss of opportunity, except where such exclusion is not permitted by law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Insurance and claims We may hold suitable removals insurance, but the existence of insurance does not expand our liability beyond these terms or any applicable policy wording. The customer should consider arranging additional cover where goods are particularly valuable or where standard transit cover may be insufficient. Any claim for loss or damage must be notified to us promptly and, where possible, before the end of the move or within the period stated in the quotation or invoice. The customer may be asked to provide photographs, purchase evidence, or other reasonable supporting information.

Minor scuffs, surface marks, or cosmetic imperfections may occur during normal handling and are not necessarily recoverable unless they arise from negligence. We will not be responsible for pre-existing damage, weak furniture joints, items assembled from particleboard that fail during normal handling, or goods that cannot reasonably be moved without risk due to their condition. The customer agrees to cooperate with any reasonable investigation of a claim and to mitigate loss where possible. Replacement rather than repair will not automatically be offered unless required by law or agreed in writing.

7. Waste handling and environmental compliance If waste removal, disposal, recycling, or clearance work is included, the service will be carried out in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations. Waste transfer, segregation, and disposal may only be performed in a lawful manner using authorised facilities or contractors where required. The customer must not ask us to remove controlled waste, hazardous waste, clinical waste, asbestos, chemicals, gas cylinders, or other restricted materials unless we have expressly agreed and are legally permitted to do so. Any illegal or unsafe waste will be refused.

Moving crew completing a house removal serviceWhere waste is collected as part of a removals or clearance service, the customer remains responsible for declaring the nature of the waste accurately. Misdescription of waste may result in refusal, additional charges, or termination of the service. We may ask the customer to separate recyclable material, reusable items, and general waste where appropriate. Any items designated for disposal become subject to the agreed service terms and may not be retrieved after collection. We reserve the right to stop work if unlawful waste is discovered.

8. Access, timing, and performance Estimated arrival times are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed unless expressly agreed. Delays may occur because of traffic, prior jobs, weather, loading constraints, or conditions beyond our control. We will use reasonable endeavours to complete the service within the estimated time, but any time estimate is approximate. If the customer causes delay, additional labour time, vehicle waiting time, or a second visit may be charged. Repeated delays may require a revised booking or additional staffing.

Where parking restrictions, building rules, or access limitations affect the move, the customer is responsible for arranging lawful access unless we have agreed otherwise. If our team is unable to commence or complete work because access is blocked, unsafe, or unlawful, the full or partial charge may still apply depending on the circumstances and the work already undertaken. Any request to carry items beyond the original scope, up or down additional floors, or to more than one destination may require a revised quotation.

9. Packing, dismantling, and special items Unless expressly included, packing materials, dismantling, reassembly, and specialist handling are separate services. Items such as pianos, antiques, artwork, safes, aquariums, large appliances, and unusually heavy or awkward objects may require prior notice, specialist equipment, or additional labour. We may refuse to move an item if it is unsafe, insufficiently packed, or likely to cause damage to property, persons, or the item itself. Any customer instructions must be lawful and reasonable.

If we dismantle furniture or disconnect appliances, we will do so with reasonable care, but we are not responsible for defects caused by age, prior damage, poor assembly, missing fittings, or manufacturer faults. The customer is responsible for ensuring items can be safely reassembled in the destination property and that all necessary parts, screws, and instructions are retained. Where a product warranty may be affected by disassembly or transport, the customer should check with the manufacturer in advance. We do not provide specialist engineering or electrical certification unless expressly stated.

10. Termination and suspension We may suspend or terminate the service immediately if the customer behaves abusively, supplies false information, fails to pay, asks us to perform illegal work, or creates a health and safety risk. If service is terminated due to the customer’s breach, any completed work remains payable and any additional costs reasonably incurred may be charged. We may also suspend work if conditions at the property are unsafe, if severe weather makes performance unreasonable, or if required by law or authority.

11. Complaints and disputes If the customer is dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, the issue should be raised as soon as reasonably possible so that we may investigate and, where appropriate, attempt to resolve it. Evidence of the issue, including photographs or a written description, may be requested. Any informal discussion or goodwill gesture does not amount to an admission of liability. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, the parties agree to consider negotiation or other lawful dispute-resolution methods before commencing proceedings, where appropriate.

12. Governing law These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising from them shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise. If any part of these terms is found unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force. These terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties concerning the services, unless varied in writing.

By booking with Westhampstead removals services, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions. The customer also confirms that they have authority to enter into the agreement, that all details provided are accurate, and that they accept responsibility for items, access, and compliance matters not expressly undertaken by us. Any waiver of a term must be made in writing and signed or otherwise authorised by both parties. These terms are designed to support a clear, lawful, and professional removals service arrangement.
